Touching, heartfelt, beautifully romantic

In the Middle of Somewhere by Roan Parrish

25687508

It is books like this that just make my heart burst and make me so incredibly glad when I’ve found a new author whose books I just want to devour!! In the Middle of Somewhere was Roan Parrish’s debut novel and I swear you cannot tell. She is another one of those authors who just has incredible talent and a knack for telling beautiful stories.

I was blown away by the authenticity and realism of Daniel and Rex in this book. They are both beautiful men but with very sad pasts and a lot of things to work through. But together they complement each other and the chemistry between these two is hot hot hot 🔥 The sex scenes are sensual, steamy and absolutely beautiful and I love these two together. Furthermore, as the story is told entirely from Daniel’s perspective, we spend a lot of time in his head and I found myself feeling like the type of inner critic in Daniel’s head is one I could identify with. He struggles with the thought that everything will turn out ok and is a pessimist first … and I could identify with this so very much! Sure our backgrounds are polar opposites (let alone our gender and sexual orientation), but there was something about his inner voice that I just understood completely.

Roan is a phenomenal author and one I’m so very glad to have found. She writes absolutely beautiful mm romance stories that are so character driven and that I always manage to relate to. A definite one click forever author for me and I cannot wait to read her next release as well as her through her back catalogue as well.

Get ready for IMPACT!!!

Impact by Kate Sterritt

35015905

Well this book had everything I wanted after the jaw dropping cliffhanger ending of Collision (and yes you MUST read that book before Impact as they are a duet and you’ll be missing out on a lot of you don’t read it). Jules and Leo’s story is not without it’s fair share of drama, sex and more fighting (of the mainly physical kind!) and I was totally hooked until the very end.

So not to spoil this book or its predecessor I’ll just give a few – vague – dot points regarding the parts that stood out for me.

  • Leo’s past coming back was HUGE and so very unexpected. And when all the cards are dealt I think you’ll be as shocked as I was with how it all played out.
  • I’m going to be frank, the side plot with a certain guy that Jules met was just a whole lot of frustrating!!!!!
  • Perth!!! Wow – so much good stuff and so much shocking stuff that men and women will do in the pursuit of sport (the sauna 😳😳🤢🤢)
  • Jules continues to fight for what and who she believes in and I love her so much for that.
  • And Leo – he is my type of book boyfriend: hot, flawed and crazy in love with his Jules!!
  • That epilogue – ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!!!!! I loved it ❤️❤️

Overall this is one incredible duet that will keep you turning pages until the very end. Kate Sterritt is on my must read authors list for a reason and these books only cement that even further!!

Get set for one hell of a collision!

Collision by Kate Sterritt

35015900

I’ve had Collision – the first book in Kate Sterritt’s Fight for Life series – on my Kindle for ages and I felt like it was time to dive into something different. And this story, it had me hooked from the first page, captivated by the two incredible lead characters Juliette/Jules and Leo, and left my jaw hitting the floor with a cliffhanger I’m so desperately glad I get to read the resolution of straight away!!

Kate has a way of creating characters that are genuine and authentic, with faults and positive traits, with things you love and hate about them … and Collision is a perfect example of this. Jules and Leo are drawn to one another from the moment they lock eyes across a crowded room (ok, fight club arena but same same 😉) and when fate has them crossing paths three times in almost as many days, it appears that these two might just be what the other needs. But there’s a lot of obstacles standing in their way, Juliette’s boyfriend and family for one – couple that with Leo having some pretty massive demons in his past that he has yet to deal with, and despite the palpable chemistry and energy between these two, it’s going to be an uphill struggle for them to create a healthy relationship.

Kate leaves us with an absolutely jaw dropping cliffhanger which I did not see coming. So I’m heading back to my Kindle to read Impact and see how all of this is going to play out…

Swept away by the power of the falls

Could it be Love by Stacey McCoy

Could it be Love - Cover

I’m already a huge fan of Stacey’s so I was keen to read yet another of her stories and I was not disappointed. I loved Cara – the feisty, independent woman – being dragged to a health retreat that just happens to be near the mystical Vixen Falls. When she meets tour guide Ethan, her lifelong stance of “love is not for me” starts to crumble. Is it the Falls or is it more? A hot, steamy and hilarious romance, Stacey delivers a great story yet again.

“Love doesn’t live in kisses and flowers … “

The Remaking of Corbin Wale by Roan Parrish

Wow!!! This book was all kinds of dreamy and poetic and beautiful. The Remaking of Corbin Wale is the book that first drew my attention to Roan Parrish and I’m so glad I got around to reading it. Before I had even purchased the book I was in love with that cover and the story inside is one that captivated me from the beginning.

Alex has come out of a long term relationship and lost his job all within a week of one another so he heads back home and – with prompting from his best friend Gareth – takes over his mother’s coffee shop and turns it into a bakery and cafe. Corbin used to be a regular at the old coffee shop and when Alex’s bakery opens, he takes up residence at his usually table, sketching and keeping to himself. Alex is immediately drawn to the Corbin’s unusual, yet alluring, presence and despite a lot of townspeople having preconceived and negative views about Corbin, Alex is convinced there is more to Corbin than first impressions.

Yet again Roan has created a beautiful world, rich in its setting, its inhabitants and its feel. Alex’s bakery and all the baked goods almost become characters themselves, as they take on meaning and importance to the story as well as Alex and Corbin. And Corbin himself manifests an incredible and unique view on the world that Roan does a fabulous job of portraying as well as respecting and I became enamoured with Corbin’s way of viewing life.
I also loved Gareth and Orin and the small but significant contributions they made to the story and I’m thrilled that they are getting their own book!!

This book is so very exceptional in its ability to not only deliver a beautiful romance but also a fabulous outlook on the world and the simple reminder that everyone sees the the life around them differently, who is to say what is right or wrong…

Frenemies to Lovers and secrets come out

Right Between the Eyes by Serenity Woods

Right Between the Eyes is the third book in Serenity Woods Between the Sheets series and I loved loved loved this “frenemies” to lovers romance with a touch of drama added in. Serenity is fabulous at creating a series with characters whom you get to know and fall in love with over the course of many books and the absolutely gorgeous New Zealand settings where her books take place just make me want to jump on a plane and go check it all out for myself.

This is Jonah and Billie’s story and boy is it a captivating one. They’ve been friends, pranksters and frenemies for four years but Jonah has had his eye on Billie ever since she walked into their local pub… unfortunately she was in a relationship at the time. But a lot has changed during those four years and with both of them single, a little bit of money tossed into a tin for charity (loved the shout out to the Three Wise Men series!!) and next thing you know, Jonah and Billie are going on a date. But these two both have some pretty big secrets and the drama unfolds as the revealing of these secrets occurs – and some will have your jaw dropping 😳😮

While all the books in the Between the Sheets series are standalone romances about different couples, I definitely recommend starting with book 1 (or at least reading book 1 before his book) and while you will still appreciate the gorgeous romance between Jonah and Billie, you will gain a much greater understanding their friends and siblings which will make the story that much more significant.

Another fabulous book by Serenity Woods – I can’t wait for the next one in this captivating series.

“What are you doing now that your team is out of the running for the Stanley Cup?”

Forget.

I need to forget. I need an escape.

Adalyn is bold, sassy–and the perfect escape.

She’s everywhere. In town and in my dreams, and suddenly I need to spend every waking moment with her.

And I do, making this summer the best off-season I’ve ever had.

But in the midst of getting lost in Adalyn, what I don’t expect is to get her pregnant.

And what I definitely don’t expect is having to fight for her affection.

EXCERPT

“Would you mind zipping up the back of my dress?” She walks toward me, her flowery scent floating in my direction, spiking my yearning into overdrive.

“Uh, yeah . . . sure.”

She turns around, and looks over her shoulder. The back of her dress is completely open, the zipper undone to just above the curve of her beautifully round ass.

Shit, all that smooth, tan skin, covered by nothing but the velvety fabric of the dress. Is she wearing underwear? She’s not wearing a bra and I see no panty line.

Clearing my throat, I ask, “Are you wearing underwear, Adalyn?”

From over her shoulder, she smiles shyly. “Yes, it’s small though.”

Of course it is. Why wouldn’t it be?

Not being able to stop myself, I take a second to float my fingertips up her spine. From the initial touch, her back arches and a small gasp releases from her lips, but before I can think about stopping, she melts into my touch. Stepping closer, I place my hand on the back of her hip, my thumb pressing into her ass while the other hand explores the bare expanse of her back. Her head falls to my shoulder. Her lips part, and when I snake to the front of her dress, her breath hitches.

Eyes closed, I take in ragged breaths, my fingers inching closer and closer to her front, my cock painfully hard.

It’s been so goddamn long—and being with Adalyn has only spurred on my need—but I want to make sure we’re in a good place before we commit to anything. I want to make sure she’s ready emotionally because the minute I bury myself deep inside her, I know there will be no turning back. She will be mine forever.

But maybe for now, I can just have a little touch . . .

My cock pressed against her butt, she expertly grinds her backside into me, her hands moving to my neck, pulling my head down to hers. I kiss the side of her neck, using the hand that’s gripping her hips to guide her with her grinding in just the right place.

Fuck, that feels good.

I grunt, the sound vibrating over her sleek neck. My hand on her stomach, she arches wanting more of my touch, silently asking me to move north.

And I fucking comply. Inch by slow inch, I guide my hand to just below her breasts. When I halt my pursuit, a displeased groan escapes her.

“Hayden, please.”

I squeeze my eyes shut, trying to find the willpower. Her fingernails dig into my scalp, spurring me on as she turns her head and finds my lips.

She kisses me.

Hot.

Wet.

Needy.

Her lips gliding across mine, her tongue diving into my mouth, her moans are vocal and sexy. Her delicious ass, pressing, grinding, undulating against my rock-hard cock makes me want to do so much more, makes me want to taste so much more.

Moving my hand higher, my fingertips graze the bottom of her breast. Soft. Round. Smooth. I caress her right below her nipple, never touching, just teasing . . . tempting.

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!

Finding love half way around the world

An Ocean Between Us by Serenity Woods

Cover.jpg

Yet again Serenity Woods has managed to captivate me with an absolutely amazing romance novel and got me all excited for the next book in the series which is out later this month. The second book in the Between the Sheets series, An Ocean Between Us tells the story of Danny and Hermione – two people who come from backgrounds that are literally and figuratively oceans apart (I love when the title so accurately describes the book!!).

Danny is the landscape gardener hired to work on Hermione’s parents’ holiday house in New Zealand. Hermione comes from London, England and is the daughter of an Earl – she’s high class, rich and in New Zealand for a getaway. After a quite amusing case of mistaken identity, it’s clear that these two are very attracted to one another, but with Hermione’s life back in London and Danny loving his home in New Zealand could it ever really work…

Serenity weaves some heavy themes into this story and yet it never brings the overall plot down, instead it enhances it and gives greater depth to the characters. From the class system in England (which as an Australian I found fascinating since we, like New Zealand, are basically a class-less country) to arranged/assumed marriages and from caring for a chronically ill parent to the importance of finding somewhere to belong; I enjoyed delving into these deeper issues alongside what is a steamy and sensual love story.

Every book I read of Serenity’s confirms for me why she is so successful at what she does – and An Ocean Between Us is another great example of her ability to deliver a gorgeous love story with characters I really come to care about.

When FATE finds you LOVE

Unbreakable Bond by Jess Bryant

40120548

I have been so keen to read this book since Jess Bryant first announced that she was writing her first paranormal romance novel. Despite being a big fan of Twilight, I haven’t read many books in this genre but I’m definitely keen to find some more good quality paranormal romance books. This was also my first shifter – in this case werewolf shifter – romance and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! Jess has done an incredible job of creating a captivating romance that has a fascinating folklore base which she explained beautifully and in no way detracted from the story.

Zoey has grown up in a shifter community – adopted by a werewolf couple who couldn’t have kids – and her best friend Michael is a werewolf, the alpha pack leader and the man she has loved for most of her life. However, in the shifter world, werewolves don’t “fall in love” in the traditional human way… they have a mate, someone destined to be theirs … and unfortunately Zoe is not fated to be Michael’s. When Michael’s brother Rafe comes back to town and it seems that he is the werewolf fated to be Zoey’s mate – well expect some fireworks and one incredible story!!

What I loved about this story was the fact it unfolded over a few days and was told in almost “real time”. I love a romance where you feel like you get to know the characters so well as they start to fall in love. And while Rafe and Zoey’s relationship is a definite insta-lust, insta-love situation, in the shifter world that Jess has created it doesn’t feel unnaturally forced like it can in a “regular” romance novel. The connection between these two is real and beautiful and they make an incredible pair. While fate brings them together, it’s their true feelings for each other that will make or break a potential ongoing relationship.

The overarching storyline – and “bad guy” – continues into the next story which is Michael’s and his fated mate Luna. I was glad that Rafe and Zoey’s story concludes but I’m super keen to find out how the rest of the arc they started in Unbreakable Bond plays out.
